When designing this piece, the maker had in mind the ice cream cone. The pistol grip is meant to represent the tapering cone and a singe scoop of ice cream. The handle of this piece is made from Purple Heart, which originates from South America. Apart from being used for eating ice cream, this spoon could be used in the middle years of childhood as an intermediate before full sized flatware.
